  1. What is Notepad++?

Notepad++ is an updated version of Apple’s original Note Pad desk accessory. Apple’s Note Pad provided 8 independent pages for ideas and notes, and was designed to be a computerized version of the memo pad that’s probably on your desk. A good idea, but they didn’t take it very far. That’s where Notepad++ comes in. Notepad++ gives you 35 pages, and many more features that Apple’s utility does not provide.

  5. IMPORTANT: Just like Apple’s Note Pad, Notepad++ presents you with a “pad” of discrete pages (8 in Apple’s, 35 in ours). Text will NOT flow from page to page. Each page is a complete, self-contained document.

  7. Installation:

For System 6.0.X:    Install the NotePad++ v1.3 using the Apple's Font/DA application. This will install the desk accessory into standard Apple's menu. An alternative method would to use the Suitcase™ or MasterJuggler™ INIT/DA programs to install it into Apple' s menu. Consult your owner’s manual for more information about the Font/DA Mover, Suitcase™ or MasterJuggler™ INIT/DA programs.

  11. For System 7.0:    Double-click the NotePad++ v1.3 and copy the NotePad++ DA into the "Apple Menu Items" or designated folder.

NOTE: For beta users testing v1.3bX, you may want to force desk top to be rebuilt with the new icon's for v1.3. However, rebuilding the desk top will cause the comments to be flushed from the Finder's "Get Info" item command. It's amazing Apple never fixed this bug from the original Finder v1.0!

  17. •    The "NotePad++ Document" can only be opened by NotePad++ DA.

  19. •    Requires System 6.0.5 or higher version. And, 115K of memory is require for the DA to startup and additional memory for each page loaded base on its number of characters per page.
